Excerpts from the Christian novel for teenagers and young adults
Chapter 1

“No, I did not,” I said for the hundredth time while my best friend, Beth, facepalmed herself.
We were in the library and Beth had been drilling me since we came back from the science laboratory.
“Just tell me what happened,” I said resignedly.
” Okay. Since you are so dense… I’ll tell you. Do not tell me that you did not see the way Luke was staring at you when we were doing that experiment stuff in the lab.” Beth placed her hands on her waist perfecting the picture of a mother who was lecturing her child.
“Can you hear yourself? I was doing something which means I would not know if someone was staring at me.” I said in a think-about-it way.
“Everyone in this class knows that Luke likes you,” Beth said, sitting on the chair closest to me.
“Unfortunately, I love my books more,” I shrugged.
“Ivy, you are 16. And in SSS 3. The best time to live your life. You are the only girl in this school who is single,” She said, looking so serious that a passerby would think she was talking about a life or death situation.
I rolled my eyes.
“Now that is a little bit exaggerated, Bethany. Secondary school is not meant for dating. And just because everyone is doing something abnormal does not make that thing normal.”
“Okay. I’m sorry for trying to fix your boring life,” She rolled her eyes.
I recognized that look. She was angry.
“You know, I don’t mean it that way,” I held her hands. I searched my mind for something that would make her less angry. Results came up immediately.
“Did you watch the second episode of Love in the air?”
“Of course I did,” Her face brightened up immediately. Then we started arguing like crazy people about the movie.
I am Ivy Adams and that was 16- year-old me. The 16-year-old was pretty awesome and had a lot of feathers in her cap. Top student, best athlete, sister coordinator and choir leader of the school fellowship. She was also the only child of the man who had made the one of the fastest chargers in the world and the woman who owned multiple supermarkets in different parts of the country. What’s more? She was literally the holiest girl in the school. No boyfriends, no earrings. I am sure you are now wondering why I am in this clammy cell eating beans that look like they were harvested immaturely. It’s a very long story.
My life had been good till I met Leke Anderson, my first crush.
