Watch now to claim my new book on Effective Book Marketing Strategies. Why is Amazon banning books? In the past few years, Amazon have succeeded in doing the following:
- Terminates accounts of authors
- Ban books of authors
- Suspend authors accounts
And they have done these without giving tangible and verifiable reasons. This is below the belt in the part of Amazon.
Why is Amazon banning books? A golden question
This was a question an author who published his books on Amazon through our account asked me some moments ago. He asked this question when I told him about how Amazon has either suspended or terminated or ban authors books over the years.
He was surprised and wanted more information when I gave him the little answer that I know.
I went online to find out what others are saying or the answers they are providing for this question of: Why is Amazon banning books?

What they say about why Amazon is terminating accounts of authors
The following are some of the answers I was able to gather online. I am presenting it unedited.
According to a commentator,
The short answer, to get rid of poor books and increase quality.
Put yourself in their shoes. What is Amazon’s goal? It is simply to make profit, for them to do that they need quality books.
But when people see an opportunity to make money they are going to try to to just start and that will involve putting a lot of low quality books. The fact is not many people will give the time and effort required to publish a quality book, and when they are thinking about the money, just publish whatever can make them money fast.
If Amazon had a way to magically identify people that will publish quality books they will do that, but because they can’t they have to rely on what they have. As more people are entering into Amazon and with the advent of AI, the fact is there are more trash than quality books, and if their customers cannot identify the quality from the trash it is going to hurt their pocket.
Imagine if Amazon becomes known as a place where there are bad books, how much it will hurt their pocket? That will be a big blow to them – financial wise.
The fact there there are still Nigerians publishing means they are willing to give a chance, but they will still curate bad books.
Again put yourself in their shoes they are trying to make money by marketing quality books which customers will read and like. And so on, I can keep going but I think you get the point.
The thing is if Amazon believes that you will produce quality book that their customers will enjoy, then the last thing they will do is ban you.
Innocent authors get banned by Amazon
Another commentator wrote this in response to the one above:
While I understand your point, the main issue here is that innocent people are getting burned in the process. I have seen people create Amazon KDP accounts today and it gets terminated without even publishing. I have been burned and even as I speak to you, I’m trying to recover. Innocent people are getting burned.
As for AI, I already started using it and I won’t stop. I know people who cannot even write, creating books with AI and make more than I can ever imagine. I wrote so well, played by the rules, and still got burned.
I won’t let that happen to me, even when I use AI, I still deliver so well. I will not be that writer with so much potential that ended up with nothing.

And this is my comment on Why is Amazon banning books?
Because Amazon is just being foolish.
There is no justifiable reason why they should ban an account without giving a good reason.
Blanket ban is what they are doing which is bad.
Any reply to your email when you complain is always empty with no good reasons given.
And they will even take your earnings away and also deny you access to your book files.
That is horrible and foolish.
And we have observed that they have mostly terminated the accounts of Africans and Nigerians.
What is the way out for Nigerian authors
The way out for Nigerian authors is for them to do the following:
Never rely only on Amazon
Build their own audience and fan base
Set up their websites or online bookstores
Have a social media fan page
Build an email list
